
Kats wrap up competition in Corpus Christi

The Sam Houston State men's and women's cross country programs placed a combined six athletes in the top 10 at the Islander Splash on Friday, highlighted by fifth-place marks from Cameron Theriot and Hannah Tarrant.
The men, running the 8K, were led by Theriot's 26:53.0 followed by John Bounds in sixth (27:07.1) and Robert Monticone in seventh (27:21.6).
For the women, Tarrant ran a 19:55.6 in the 5K to pace action for Sam Houston. The sophomore was followed by freshman Kassandra Luna in seventh (20:29.9) and sophomore Lizzy Duenes in ninth (20:47.7). Teammate Holy Pierce finished 13th (21:22.2) while Meaghen Seales went 15th (22:31.5).
The team returns to action next Saturday at the Texas A&M Invitational. The event will mark the first of two straight trips to College Station – the final two meets of the regular season leading into the Southland Conference Championships on Oct. 28.
