Kats get dominating win over North American

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston Bearkats got a 92-43 dominating win over North American on Tuesday night at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum. 

Sam Houston (5-1) scored 49 points in the first half, shooting 50 percent from the field, and dominated perimeter with nine 3-point buckets, the most since the 2023-24 season finale vs UTEP, to claim its fourth straight win of the season.

Bryana Block nailed a trio of 3-pointers and scored a career-high 14 points while Aysia Ward-Strong was right behind her with 11 points of her own. Nyla Inmon and Whitney Dunn had 10 apiece to have four players in double figures for the first time this season.

The Kats came out firing, outscoring the Stallions 23-9 in the first quarter with Ward-Strong taking the charge hitting her second 3-pointer of the year to highlight the surge. Inmon showed off her skills in the paint, helping the Kats out score the Stallions 20-10 in the paint in the first half.  

Sam Houston finished off strong, shooting 49.3 percent from the field with 32 points off turnovers.

The Kats will head south for their first December contest against Rice on Wednesday night at Tudor Fieldhouse. Tipoff is set for 5:30 pm with the game airing on ESPN+.
