JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – Sam Houston did not plate a run in 2-0 loss to Jax State on Saturday at Jana McGinnis Field.
The Bearkats (25-25, 12-11 CUSA) kept the game scoreless until the fifth inning, but the Gamecocks plated their first run on a Bearkat error. That run would ultimately prove to be enough as Jax State secured the series victory after a 5-3 win in the opener Friday night.
Abigail Young (7-6) received the loss after allowing nine hits and one earned run. She just didn't get any offensive support.
The teams combined for 16 runners left on base. Four Bearkats recorded hits including Brodie Quinlan who had a double.
Sam Houston will look to avoid the sweep on Sunday. First pitch is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN+.
