Sam Houston State University has a proud history of over 100 years in intercollegiate athletics, led by thousands of former letter winners in various varsity sports sponsored by Bearkat Athletics.
Comprised of all former male and female student-athletes that competed for a varsity sports program at Sam Houston State, the SH Letterwinners Association connects a rich history and a bright future for Bearkat Athletics.
To honor our former student-athletes, Sam Houston State provides them with a Lifetime Letterwinners Pass that allows for one complimentary general admission ticket to all regular season Bearkat sporting events. Complimentary tickets are available at the Ticket Box Office on game days when the pass is presented by the letter winner. Few things compare to seeing former teammates and letter winners showing support for our current student-athletes. This is highlighted in an annual tradition of former Bearkat Football players creating the lettermen's tunnel for the football team to run through at the Battle of the Piney Woods game at NRG Stadium in Houston.
The annual Hall of Honor Banquet highlights former Bearkat student-athletes that competed at the highest levels on and off of the field of play during their Sam Houston career. Each year, Hall of Honor inductees show what it means to be a truly great Bearkat, with many of our student-athletes in attendance to see several great examples of what hard work and dedication can lead to throughout a lifetime.
If you are a former SHSU Letterwinner, we encourage you to continue being an active member of the Bearkat family by attending sporting events and the annual Hall of Honor Banquet, while also showing support as a Bearkat Champion. It is imperative that former student-athletes give back and help us continue Building Champions on and off the field of play through contributions to current and future Bearkats. Without this support, reaching higher levels of success is not possible.
