HUNTSVILLE – Looking to carry its momentum to Orem, Utah, the Sam Houston State men’s basketball team (4-7) is set to take on Utah Valley in a 3 p.m. (CT) matchup at the UCCU Center on Saturday, Dec. 22.

- Cameron Delaney continues to make a huge offensive impact for the Bearkats this season. The senior leads the squad and averages 11.5 points per game to go along with his 19 made threes. Delaney has posted double-figures in all but three games this season
- Producing
an even 11 points and 11 rebounds, junior transfer Kai Mitchell’s performance against Alabama State earned him his second double-double of the season. Mitchell leads the squad and ranks fifth in the Southland Conference with 78 rebounds. - Tuesday’s 78-57 win over Alabama State snapped the Bearkats four-game losing streak. It marked Sam Houston’s first win in the month of December and the first since the crew’s 75-60 victory over Jackson State on Nov. 19.
- Crashing the boards offensively, Sam Houston State ties for 67th in the nation with 12.27 offensive rebounds per game. The Bearkats have raked in 135 offensive boards over the course of 11 games.
- Josh Delaney, who has tallied 158 three-pointers over the course of his career, ranks seventh in the Bearkat record books in career threes. Delaney is just 23 made treys away from catching Derrick Preston (181) in sixth.
- Making an impact on the defensive side of the ball, Chad Bowie ties for fourth in the league with 19 steals this season. On the flip side, he ties for eighth in the SLC with 37 assists.
- After not reaching double figures since the Bearkats’ second game of the season, senior Marcus Harris led the squad and drained 12 points in Tuesday’s victory against Alabama State.
- Led by Kai Mitchell and RJ Smith, the Bearkats rank third in the Southland Conference with 415 rebounds. Mitchell has collected 78 boards while Smith boasts 62 on the season. Cameron Delaney has tallied 47, Chad Bowie holds 40 and Albert Almanza has raked in 33 to round out the top five.

Meeting for the first time exactly one year ago, Utah Valley holds a 1-0 all-time series lead over the Bearkats. Sam Houston hosted the inaugural meeting at Johnson Coliseum on Dec. 22, 2017, and fell to the Wolverines by a score of 75-64.
