Hall of Honor
Sam Houston head football coach from 1982 to 2004, Randleman's career record of 219 victories, 166 losses and six ties at three universities included 11 conference championships, 10 post-season national playoff appearances and 12 coach of the year awards. Taking over a program that had won only 25 of its last 92 in eight seasons at the NAIA level, Randleman built a nationally competitive program at Sam Houston. Playing in three leagues during his 23 years as Bearkat head coach, Randleman led Sam Houston to 132 victories, five conference titles and four post season playoff appearances. He won conference “coach-of-the-year” honors four times. He mentored 124 Bearkats who named All-Conference and 20 All-Americans. Randleman also served as Director of Athletics from 1982 to 1990, overseeing the athletic program's move up from the NAIA to the NCAA Division II level and on to the university's current NCAA Division I status.
