Bearkats named to academic honor squad

Football players Brett Hicks, David Branch, Nolan Bucek, and Eric Mikolojchak were first team selections on the 2007 Academic All-Southland Conference football team.
Hicks, a senior business major from Bandera with a 3.18 cumulative grade point average, led the Bearkats to victories in their final three games of the year.
Branch, a senior defensive end from Houston / Cy Falls, compiled a 3.00 GPA as a management major. Junior linebacker
Nolan Bucek from Houston / Cy Creek posted a 3.03 GPA as a marketing major.
Junior defensive lineman Eric Mikolojchak of Mayde Creek holds a 3.53 GPA as a biology major.
Branch, Bucek, and Mikolojchak all were also All-Southland Conference honorees in 2007.
Sophomore offensive lineman Travis Best from Houston / Cy Falls (accounting major, 3.60 GPA); junior offensive lineman R. C. Fairchild from The Woodlands (marketing major, 3.33 GPA; and junior defensive back Jeff Sparks (secondary criminal justice 3.20) were honorable mention football selections.
