Women's basketball signs Ashton Jones

Ashton Jones, a 6-1 forward from Cypress Woods High School, has signed a letter-of-intent to attend Sam Houston State and play women's basketball for head coach Brenda Nichols.Jones earned All-District honorable mention honors as she helped lead Coach Virginia Flores' squad to the state playoffs in 2009. As a junior, Jones averaged 8.1 points and 7.2 rebounds per game. As a senior, she is averaged 20 points and 10 rebounds as captain of her team.
"We're excited to sign an outstanding student-athlete like Ashton," Nichols said. "A talented athlete, she can score and rebound and will be a quality addition to our program."
