Linebacker Will Henry earns Southland honor

Henry tied the Sam Houston school record with four sacks in the Bearkats' 26-7 victory at Nicholls.
All-American defensive tackle Michael Bankston also had four sacks against Angelo State in 1991.
Henry led a defensive unit that tied the Southland Conference record for sacks with 12 sacks in a game, which is shared by Northwestern State vs. SFA in 1997. The 12 sacks were just two short of the NCAA Division I FCS national record of 14 set by Alcorn State against Mississippi Valley State in 2007.
Sam Houston State limited Nicholls to 97 total yards, the fewest given up by a Sam Houston defense since it held SFA to 83 total yards in 1990.
Previous Sam Houston players of the week for the 2010 season include Miquel Antonio (special teams (Sept. 27), Brandon Closner (special teams Nov. 4) and Tim Flanders (offene Nov. 4).
The Bearkat football team has won its last three contests in a row. Sam Houston will play Southeastern Louisiana Saturday at 2 p.m. at Bowers Stadium in the 76th annual homecoming game.
