With the success of the women's team this year, and the wide-open nature of the men's field, this could be shaping up to be a very fun week of basketball at the Merrell Center. I wanted to remind you tickets are on sale now though our ticket office and stress it is important our fans purchase tickets through us.
Speaking of time flying by so quickly, baseball and softball are already underway. It is with that I want to touch on something that seems to be a hot-topic as of late, and that is the policies on the right-field area of Don Sanders Stadium.
There seems to be a misconception out there that the athletic department has done away with that part of the fans experience at Bearkat baseball games. That is not the case at all. We are simply enforcing department, university and Texas State University System policies that have already been in place.
There is one change we are making to the seating arrangements outside of the complex and that is the area outside the fence along Bowers Boulevard. That is becoming an increasing safety issue with cars parking along the street, and people trying to cross the road in traffic. I know I cringed on more than once occasion seeing a child dart across the road in pursuit of a foul ball.
All we have done is make sure our baseball and softball policies are in line with what we are doing with football tailgating. We want to keep friendly fan environment at all of our games, but the safety to all of our fans is our biggest concern.
Thanks for taking all of this into consideration and we hope to see everyone out at the ball parks this spring cheering on our Bearkats.
