Deveney Wells-Gibson totaled 12 kills to lead Sam Houston to a three-set victory over Houston Baptist in a quick hour and 11 minute volleyball match at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum Tuesday night.
Haley Neisler and Kendall Cleveland added 11 and 10 kills, respectively, as Sam Houston out-pointed the Huskies 59 to 33.
Madeline Gaffney led Houston Baptist with nine kills.
The victory extended Sam Houston's volleyball winning streak to six matches as the Bearkats now stand 11-9 for the year. HBU dropped to 12-10.
Sam Houston never trailed in any of the three sets. In fact, there was only one tie in the match, at 1-1 in the first set.
Kim Black led the Bearkat front line with six blocks and Wells-Gibson added four. Tayler Gray led the defense with 13 digs and totaled 38 assists running the floor as SHSU's setter.
Kaylee Hawkins and Wells-Gibson each had 11 digs and Cleveland added 10.
