Cross Country Opens 2012 Season

The race will pit SHSU against teams from Stephen F. Austin and host Lamar University. The men's race will feature a 12-mile race with teams of two student-athletes each running three two-mile legs. The women's race will be run over an 8-mile course with the members of the two-women teams each running two legs.
"The meet is a fun way to get the season started and get everyone ready to compete," SHSU distance coach Jessie Parker said. "We're looking forward to getting the schedule underway."
Relay teams for the Sam Houston men will consist of Karl Schreiber and Ryan Saam; Zach Goodlander and Logan Terry; Juan Ponce and Patrick Krol; and Clint Anders and Patrick Pitts.
Women's relay pairings include Allysa Dooley and Nicole Aponte; Solenn Riou and Anna Moreno and Leah Taylor and Haley West.
Next action for the Bearkat cross country team following Friday's meet will be the Rice Invitational Friday Sept. 14 in Houston.
