Kats Dominate at First 2012 Meet

Alyssa Dooley and Nicole Aponte paired to win the event with a first place time of 49:42.3. Solenn Riou and Anna Moreno placed second with a mark of 50:05.4.
Leah Taylor and Haley West of Sam Houston placed eighth with a time of 54:08.1.
The women's race was run over an 8-mile course with the members of the two-women teams each running two legs.
"The meet was a fun way to get the season started and get everyone ready to compete," SHSU distance coach Jessie Parker said. "We're excited about getting the schedule underway."
Next action for the Bearkat cross country team following Friday's meet will be the Rice Invitational Friday Sept. 14 in Houston.

Relay duos from Sam Houston State placed third, fourth and sixth in the Bearkat men's cross country team's first action of the 2012 season at the Lamar Cardinal Relays in Vidor
The men's race featured a 12-mile course with teams of two student-athletes each running three two-mile legs.
Patrick Krol and Juan Ponce were the top finishers for the Kats, placing third with a mark of 65:00.0.
Karl Schreiber and Ryan Saam placed fourth with a time of 65:07.9.Clint Anders and Patrick Pitts were sixth with a mark of 66:55.9.
Next action for the Bearkat cross country team following Friday's meet will be the Rice Invitational Friday Sept. 14 in Houston.
