Ryan Saam finished 60th in the individual competition with a time of 32:18 to lead the Sam Houston men's team to a 14th place finish at the NCAA South Central Region cross country championships held Friday at Cottonwood Creek in Waco.
The Bearkats produced a score of 413 points. A total of 21 teams competed in the 10,000 race.
Other Sam Houston men's finishes included Karl Schreiber 69th 32:32; Palo Ponce 80th 32:54; Logan Terry 88th 33:09; Lucio Rosas 116th 34:14; Evan Arambula 131st 35:06 and John Bounds 140th 36:54.
Sam Houston State entered four women in the 6,000 meter women's championship.
Ana Moreno placed 74th with a 22:43 clocking; Olivia Olguin was 76th with 22:47; Nicole Aponte 83rd 22:57 and Miranda Prado 91st 23:13.
