
Women 5th Men 11th at Rice Invt.

The Sam Houston women's cross country team placed fifth out of 14 teams at the annual Rice Invitational Friday afternoon in Houston.
Alyssa Dooley was the top individual finisher for the Bearkats with a 10th place time of 15:31.
Texas A&M won the 4,220 meter race with 29 points. Rice was second with 64 points, followed by Lamar 80, SFA 125, Sam Houston 152, A&M-Corpus Christi 160, Texas State 212, McNeese 217, Houston 246, Houston Baptist 267, Nicholls 311, A&M-Kingsville 351, TCU 368 and Prairie View A&M 385.
Other finishes for the Bearkat women were Miranda Prado 30th (16:04), Ana Moreno 35th (16:11), Olivia Olguin 38th (16:16) and Nicole Aponte 40th (16:16).
The Bearkat men finished 11th in their 5,500 meter event.
Karl Schreiber led the Kats with a time of 17:57 good for a 46th place finish. Other Kat times were Lucio Rosas 50th (18:04), Ryan Saam 53rd (18:12), Logan Terry 63rd (18:36), Evan Arambula 69th (18:52) and John Bounds 77th (19:18).
Host Rice won the men's team title.
