Women Play Host To Prairie View

The Sam Houston women's basketball team returns to action Wednesday when the Bearkats play host to Prairie View A&M at 6:30 p.m. at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
The Kats are seeing their first action in 11 days after taking a break for final exams.
Sam Houston brings a 1-6 record into the contest. The SHSU women picked up their first victory of the season in their most recent home game, defeating Texas Southern 61-54 on December 3.
Prairie View stands 2-6 for the year, but that includes losses to three nationally ranked opponents (No. 5 Stanford, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 11 North Carolina) plus defeats at the hands of Stephen F. Austin and Rice.
The Panthers own a two-game winning streak, having defeated Schreiner 90-38 and the University of Houston 61-56 in their most recent outings.
Jeanette Jackson, a 5-7 senior guard, leads Prairie View with a 20.0 scoring average. The Panthers' inside game centers around by 6-4 post player Shamiya Brooks who adds 7.3 points per contest.
Shernise Robertson, a junior guard, is the Bearkats' top scorer with a 15.0 average. Her backcourt partner Taylor Dorsey adds 12.0 points per game. Amanda Barnes is scoring 7.6 points per game.
Shadijah Moore and Jazmin Wiley are Sam Houston's top threats inside.
Wednesday's contest marks the SHSU women's final non-conference home game. The Bearkats will finish out December traveling to TCU on Sunday, December 21 and Wichita State on Sunday, December 28.
