Sam Houston lost twice Saturday in action at the Houston Cougar Classic.

The Bearkats were shut out by Nebraska 2-0 in the afternoon then fell 13-5 in a slugfest with Houston Saturday night.

Nebraska pitcher Emily Lockman limited Sam Houston to four hits as the Huskers shut out the Kats 2-0 Saturday in SHSU's third game at the UH Cougar Classic softball tournament.

Hillary Adams, Tayler Gray, Angelica Gonzales and Hannah Marino accounted for Sam Houston's four singles.

The Kats did not get a runner past first base until the sixth inning when Gonzalez reached third with two outs. But a ground out ended the team's only threat.

Nebraska scored runs in the third and fourth innings on an RBI single and a sacrifice fly. Lockman struck out four Bearkats.

Haley Baros (0-1) was the losing pitcher, working five innings and striking out six. Taylor Atkinson pitched the sixth inning.

Marino, Sarah Allison and Hillary Adams each hit home runs for the Bearkats in the loss to the Cougars.

Allison homored to center field in the bottom of the second to tie the game 1-1. UH bounced back to score seven in the top of the third.

Cecilia Castilloscored a run with a double in the third and Marion blasted a two-run homer to center field in the fourth. Adams led off the fifth with a lead-off home run.

Meme Quinn, Baros, Atkinson and Shelby Lancaster all saw action in the circle.
