Bearkat Invitational Golf Tournament Monday

The inaugural Bearkat Invitational Golf Tournament, hosted by the Bearkat Champions Fund, will be played this Monday, April 14, 2014, at Sterling Country Club at Houston National.
Sterling Country Club at Houston National boasts one of the finest golf layouts in the Southwest with casual elegance, championship golf and Texas hospitality. Sterling Country Club was rated the #1 Houston course and Houston National the #6 course for 2012 by the USGA according to the Houston Business Journal.
Proceeds from the tournament will help enhance the educational and athletic experience for the more than 350 student-athletes who represent Sam Houston State University on the field and in the arena. Special thanks goes to tournament sponsors H-E-B, Mitcham Industries and Kay Benge Serafin
Sam Houston athletics thanks all of the tournament participants and sponsors. Several important notes to participants include the following:
• Sterling Country Club is located at 16500 Houston National Blvd. in Houston
• Golfers are encourages to arrive between 8 and 9 a.m. in order to get checked-in, enjoy the continental breakfast and warm up on the driving range
• Participants are encouraged to allow for morning rush hour traffic in planning the drive to Sterling
• Sterling Country Club strictly enforces a no denim, collared shirt only policy
• The driving range and putting green will open at 8 a.m.
• The tournament officially begins with a 10 a.m. shotgun start
• Golf tournament caddies will be offering the opportunity to purchase a SuperTicket for $40
• The SuperTicket includes entry into the on-course contests, 2 mulligans and 2 drink tickets. One golfer will walk away with a vacation and four will be selected for a chance to win $100,000
• Complimentary food and beverages will be provided on the course throughout the day
• After play ends, please stick around for a reception and awards ceremonies

The Bearkat Champions Fund is the sole fundraising arm for Bearkat athletics, benefitting all student-athletes who compete on Sam Houston State's 17 varsity teams. Its primary goal is to provide both coaches and student-athletes with the resources they need to build upon recent success and to win championships.
