
Olivia Olguin Southland Runner of the Week

Olivia Olguin of Sam Houston State has been voted as Southland Conference women's cross country “Runner of the Week.”
The Arlington / Martin product led the Bearkat women to a team victory at the Islander Splash cross country meet in Corpus Christi Friday.
Olguin finished third individually in the 5,000 meter race with a time of 18:05, which was only 10 seconds behind the race winner. She competed against 46 runners as the Bearkats won the meet over a field that included Houston, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, Texas-Pan American, Texas Southern and Prairie View A&M.
The performance marked the third time this fall that Olguin has finished among the top 20 runners in an intercollegiate competition. She was third at the Houston Baptist Triangular to open the season and led Sam Houston with a 19th place individual performance at the Texas A&M Invitational.
Sam Houston State will compete in the Alabama Crimson Tide Classic in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Friday, October 17. The annual Southland Conference cross country championships will take place Monday, November 3 in Natchitoches, La.
