PRAIRIE VIEW – The Sam Houston men's cross country team placed second and the women finished first at the Clifton Gilliard Cross Country Invite on Friday.

The men finished with 35 points just ten points behind St. Thomas. The women had 17 points with Prairie View (55) and St. Thomas (58) behind them.

The men had three top ten finishers with Edwin Rivera leading the charge, placing 2nd with a time of 25:19:5 on the 8K course. Freshman Grant Currier finished 5^th at 26:10:7 and Klever Torres placed 7th with a time of 26:20:2.

The women had five top-ten finishers with runners taking the top-four spots on the 5K course. Freshman Sophia Phillip led the Bearkats taking first place with a time of 18:16.6. Ami Clark finished second at 18:31.2 with Zerah Martinez placing third at 18:51.2. Avery Brown came in at 19:20.7 placing fourth. Naomi Green finished 7th with a time of 19:59.5 to round out the top-ten finishers for the Kats.
