Lamar hosts SHSU women Thursday night

Two teams at different ends of the Southland women's basketball playoff spectrum meet Thursday night at the Montagne Center in Beaumont.
Lamar (16-12 overall, 13-4 Southland) can clinch a bye into the Southland Touurnament semifinals with a win over the Bearkats.
Sam Houston (6-20 overall, 5-11 Southland) is looking for a victory that could nail down the last of the eight spots in the post-season women's event in Katy next week.
The Kats and Houston Baptist are tied for eighth place. The Huskies take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in Corpus Christi Thursday. Saturday, Sam Houston finishes the regular season against first place Stephen F. Austin in Nacogdoches while HBU travels to San Antonio to face Incarnate Word.
Tipoff Thursday in Beaumont is set for 5:30 p.m. at the Montagne Center.
Junior guard Shernise Robertson continues to lead both the Bearkats and the Southland Conference in scoring with a 19.4 average. Her backcourt teammate Taylor Dorsey adds 12.6 points per contest to the SHSU women's effort.
Inside Jazmin Wiley is averaging 5.5 points and 4.3 rebounds per game. Saundra Guillory and Shadijah Moore are pulling down rebound averages of 6.6 and 5.7, respectively.
Sam Houston will look to end a six-game losing streak. Lamar defeated the Bearkat women 87-68 in Huntsville in the two team's previous meeting. Robertson had 29 points against Lamar back on Jan. 29. Lamar was led by 22 points from Edwards and 16 points apiece from Kiandra Bowers and Addesha Collins
Lamar comes into the game off an 81-64 win over Incarnate Word on Saturday behind a career-high 35 points from JaMeisha Edwards who stands as the Cardinals scoring leader with a 16.5 average.
