SHSU hosts successful Bearkat Invite Golf Tourney

HOUSTON – Sam Houston State athletics hosted its second-annual Bearkat Invitational Golf Tournament, presented by Streater-Smith Honda Nissan, at Sterling Country Club on Friday, as 28 teams competed in support of the Bearkat Champions Fund.
Participants enjoyed a round of golf on one of Houston's finest courses, while interacting with Sam Houston coaches and staff throughout the day.
“We are extremely thankful for all of our sponsors and participants who played a role in this year's tournament,” director of athletics Bobby Williams said. “The impact from the funds raised goes a long way in providing a first-class experience for our student-athletes. We're particularly appreciative of the continued support of Robert Steele for allowing us to use this beautiful golf course as well as to the team at Streater-Smith Honda Nissan for their backing.”

All proceeds from the tournament directly supported the Bearkat Champions Fund, the sole fundraising arm for Bearkat athletics. The fund serves as a means to enhance Sam Houston's 350-plus student athletes' educational and athletic experiences.
