Andrew Pate joins media services staff

HUNTSVILLE – Sam Houston State athletics has hired Andrew Pate as media services coordinator, director of athletics Bobby Williams announced on Wednesday.
Pate comes to Huntsville following a one-year stint as graduate assistant with Northwestern State where he was the primary contact for volleyball and softball. There, he served as the media host for the 2014 Southland Conference Volleyball Tournament and 2015 Southland Conference Softball Tournament.
Pate is a 2013 graduate of the University of Houston where he majored in public relations and minored in kinesiology. He will receive his master's degree in sport administration from Northwestern State this December.
At Houston, Pate served as sports editor for the student publication The Daily Cougar, where he worked for a year and a half. Upon graduation, he interned with SHSU athletics, helping provide coverage for track & field, including a pair of league titles for the women.
While with the Bearkats, he spearheaded the revitalization of the Hall of Honor portion of GoBearkats.com, as well as the compilation of all-time baseball and softball records.
