McDonald's today released the names of 755 boys and girls high school senior basketball players from across the nation who have been nominated to participate in the 2016 McDonald's All-American Games.
Two Sam Houston women's basketball fall signees are included among the group. The pair of future Bearkats are Trinity Baptiste from Hillsborough High School in Tampa and Rachell Harrell from Brock, Texas.
Baptiste is one of 27 girls' basketball players from Florida on the nomination list. Harrell joins 78 other Texans nominated.
The two student-athletes will learn if they've been selected when the rosters for the girls' contests are announced during a selection show set to air Jan. 17 on ESPNU at 10:30 p.m. The prestigious postseason all-star contests will be played at the United Center in Chicago on March 30.
Baptiste averaged 25 points and 10 rebounds during her junior season in 2014-15, leading her team to a 28-3 record. She has scored more than 1,000 points during her first two years of pay at Hillsborough.
As a junior last year at Brock, Harrell led her team to a 28-7 record, averaging 12.2 points, 4 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 5.1 assists. She played on Brock's Texas Class 2A state championship team as a freshman, hitting five three-point shots in the finals.
