Kats place 2 in top 10 at SLC XC Championships

HAMMOND, La. — Sophomore Cryslan Tucker and senior Andrew Bosquez both finished in the top 10 to highlight action for the Sam Houston men's and women's cross country teams at the Southland Conference Championships Sunday.

Tucker placed seventh on the 6k course on the campus of Southeastern Louisiana with a time of 21:18.05. She was named to the All-SLC cross country second team for her efforts.
Â
Bosquez placed ninth in the men's 8k. His time of 23:55.46 also earned him second-team All-SLC honors.
Â
The men's team finished ninth overall behind first-place Southeastern Louisiana, Stephen F. Austin, Lamar, New Orleans, Central Arkansas, McNeese, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and Abilene Christian.

The Bearkat women were 10th behind UCA, ACU, SFA, UNO, Incarnate Word, McNeese, A&M-Corpus Christi, Nicholls and Southeastern Louisiana.

Junior Rebeca Gonzalez placed 26th with a time of 22:24.02, junior Sasha Elizondo was 59th with a time of 24:17.49, sophomore Haley Thomas was 60th with a time of 24:19.26, and sophomores Lauren Reyna and Cassidy Seaney were 70th and 71st with times of 25:29.67 and 25:45.47, respectively.

Sophomore Austin Zirkel finished 30th on the men's side with a time of 25:10.16, freshman Kyan Wallace was 52nd with a time of 26:16.85, freshman Christian Rivera was 55th with a time of 26:25.45, junior David Zavala was 60th with a time of 26:31.52, freshman Dalton Page was 65th with a time of 26:41.47 and freshman Blake Raines was 77th with a time of 28:54.33.
