ARLINGTON – The Sam Houston volleyball team was stretched to five sets for the fifth straight match and closed out its trip to the Maverick Classic on a high note with a 3-2 win over host UT Arlington on Saturday at the College Park Center.
Â
Breanne Chausse made the most of her return to the metroplex with 22 kills, pacing a Bearkat (6-1) attack that hit .225 for the match. She added 11 digs for her second straight double-double.
Â
She was the favorite target for setter Morgan Janda who set a career high with 58 assists, helping not only Chausse, but Ashley Lewis (18 kills) and Catherine Krieger (17 kills) all find their way into double figures.
Â
Lewis and Janda each finished with double-doubles, but it was Hannah Baker who led the defense with a team-high 25 digs.
Â
The Kats will now turn their attention to next weekend where they will take on Rice and LSU in Houston at the Adidas Invitational II.
