CBU sweeps past Kats in Riverside

RIVERSIDE, Calif. – The Sam Houston volleyball team could not withstand California Baptist on its home floor on Thursday night, falling 3-0 to the Lancers at Van Dyne Gym.

The Kats (6-19, 3-8 WAC) suffered their seventh loss in a row with the defeat, despite a team-high 11 kills from Madison Dyer and eight from McKenzie Morvant.

CBU (9-12, 4-6 WAC) had a pair of players in double figures, led by Scherine Dahoue's 14, and hit .350 for the match.

The Lancers did the bulk of their offensive damage in Sets 1 and 3, including a third set that saw them hit .696 with 16 kills and no attack errors.

Meanwhile, the Kats had a chance to tie things up at 1-1 in Set 2, holding as much as an 8-point lead at 19-11 before CBU mounted a comeback that saw them roar back for a 26-24 win.

The Kats will now try to keep their hopes for a berth in the WAC postseason tournament alive when they travel to Grand Canyon for a Saturday meeting with the Lopes. First serve is set for 5:00 p.m. and will be aired on ESPN+.
