HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston had four players score in double digits in an 84-44 victory over UNT Dallas on Tuesday at Johnson Coliseum.

The Bearkats (4-6) shot a red-hot 48 percent from the floor and and 50 percent from 3-point range as everyone who played scored a basket. Sydnee Kemp led the way with 18 points on 5 for 8 shooting from 3, Madelyn Batista and Mikayla Woods each scored 12 and Kaylee Jefferson added 11.

The game was close early, but then the Bearkats started to heat up from behind the arc.

Kemp hit a pair of 3s around two free throws to put Sam Houston up 10-4. Woods then hit a jumper from long range and Kemp later hit another 3 to give the Kats their first double-digit lead at 19-8.

Sam Houston would take a 41-20 advantage at the break thanks to connecting on 8 of 15 3-point attempts and turning 16 Trailblazer turnovers into 16 points.

The Bearkats ran away with it in the second half. They shot 57 percent from the floor and got 25 points from the bench in the final 20 minutes.

Sam Houston will open WAC play on Dec. 29 when the Kats host Seattle at 6:30 p.m.
