HUNTSVILLE — Andjela Vidovic came up with one of the biggest wins of her young career to lift the Sam Houston tennis team to a 4-3 victory over Stephen F. Austin on Friday at the McAdams Tennis Center.

The freshman from Subotica, Serbia dropped her first set at No. 2 singles to Nyah Kauders 6-4. Vidovic then came roaring back to clinch the dual match victory for the Bearkats (7-8) by dominating the next two sets 6-1, 6-1.

The Ladyjacks (8-7) won the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3, but Sam Houston got going in singles play.

Megan Basson defeated Ana Kouchnareva 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1, and Sunskrithi Damera knocked off Zala Ule 6-1, 6-1 at the No. 6 spot.

Lusine Chobanyan reached a career milestone with her 6-3, 6-0 victory over Lucy Furness at No. 4 singles. It was her 71^st career singles win which moves her into third place for most singles victories in school history.

The Bearkats will get back to WAC play next weekend when they play in a pod at Stephenville against Tarleton on April 2 and Abilene Christian on Sunday.
