Tennis falls on the road at UTRGV

EDINBERG — The Sam Houston tennis team lost to UTRGV in a Western Athletic Conference dual match at the Orville I. Cox Tennis Center on Sunday.
The Bearkats fell to 5-12 overall and 2-6 in league play while the Vaqueros improved to 11-8 and 7-2.
Linn Svaerd picked up the point for Sam Houston playing on the sixth court. She defeated Kristyna Mamicova 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (7-3), 1-0 (12-10).
Paula Cerda lost to Karren Lea 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 at No.1 singles. Isabelle Bahr defeated Anastasia Khokhlova at No. 2 6-4, 6-2.
Marjorie Souza topped Sahithi Vutukuru 6-1, 6-4 at No. 3, and Vianne Schwab lost at No. 4 to Barbara Martinez 6-3, 6-2. Aaliyah Hohmann fell at No. 5 singles 6-2, 6-4 to Stefanie Wilske.
