NORMAN, Okla. — Bret Gray has put himself in contention following round one of the NCAA Norman Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club on Monday.

Gray fired a 1-under 71 at the par-72, 7,452-yard course to move into a tie for 15^th place. He is five shots behind the leaders, Drew Goodman of Oklahoma and Nick Dunlap of Alabama.

Gray finished the day with four birdies and 10 pars, but he had a double bogey on the par-4 11^th hole and followed it with a bogey on the par-3 12^th hole.

The top five teams along with the lowest scoring individual not on an advancing team qualify for the NCAA Championships May 26-24 at Grayhawk Golf Club in Scottsdale, Arizona.
