VB goes 2-1 at Green Wave Invitational

NEW ORLEANS — Sam Houston closed out the Green Wave Invitational with a 3-1 loss to Alabama on Sunday.
The Bearkats (4-3) went 2-1 in the tournament with a pair of 3-1 victories over Alabama A&M on Friday and against host Tulane on Saturday. In both wins, Sam Houston dropped the opening sets only two rally to win the next three.
Things were different on Sunday as the Kats jumped on the Crimson Tide early with a 25-19 victory in the first set. McKenzie Morvant had three kills over Sam Houston final four points to close out the set.
Alabama edged out the Bearkats 25-22 and 25-23 in the next two sets before securing the victory with a 25-16 win in the fourth.
Hailey Heider led Sam Houston with 17 kills, Alyssa Fielders had 13 and Morvant finished with nine. Hannah Baker had 24 digs, and Camryn Weldon had 20 assists.
