
Kats drop road contest at UTSA

SAN ANTONIO – The Sam Houston Bearkats fell 79-36 to UTSA at the Convocation Center on Saturday. Â
The Kats (5-3) tried to slow down the Roadrunners but were unsuccessful. UTSA shot a blistering 48 percent from the field while Sam Houston only shot 22 percent. Â
Whitney Dunn proved she was going to be an offensive threat early in the game. She made four of her first five shot attempts, including a 3-pointer, to account for all nine of the Bearkats' first points.Â
Sam Houston shot 44 percent from the field and took advantage of their single trip to the charity stripe going 2-2 in the first quarter. The Bearkats cooled off after that.Â
Dunn led the team with a season-high of 16 points including a season-high of three 3-point shots. Aysia Ward-Strong led the team with 10 rebounds. Â
Sam Houston will face Southern Utah on December 13 at 7:30 p.m. CT. The match will be broadcast on ESPN+.
