
Kats finish third at Aggie Invitational

COLLEGE STATION – The Sam Houston men's golf team turned in a third-place finish at the Aggie Invitational over the weekend at Traditions Course, its final tune-up prior to the Conference USA championships later this month. Â
The teams completed 18 holes on Saturday before getting in 36 on Sunday. The Kats found themselves in eighth place entering Sunday's play and quickly moved up to fourth place with a team score of 295 in Round 2 before closing with a round of 297 in the finale.Â
Baylor took the team title, leading wire-to-wire for the win and finishing at +14 overall. The Kats finished at +32 as a team, a dozen shots back of host Texas A&M who finished second behind the Bears. Â
Bret Gray led the Kats with rounds of 72-74-74 for a seventh-place finish, while Hugo Trommetter went 74-73-75 to finish at +6 and in a five-way tie for 12th place. Â
Gene Chikwangwal recovered from a rough opening round of 84 to go 71-74 on Sunday, putting together a total score of 229 for the weekend to finish in a tie for 32nd and Ting-Wei Hsieh went 79-77-74 to end in a tie for 41st. Â
Josh German rounded out the scores for the Kats with rounds of 79-78-78, finishing in a tie for 53rd.Â
The Kats willl now turn their attention to the CUSA Championships, which will be played at Texarkana Country Club, April 22-25.
