Kats close out tournament with win

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston volleyball team capped off the Bearkat Classic with a sweep against Texas Southern on Saturday at Johnson Coliseum.Â
The Bearkats (5-6) cruised past the Tigers 25-22, 25-11, 25-20 to close out the non-conference portion of the schedule.Â
Sam Houston came alive in the second set where it led by as much as 15 points. A pair of Huntsville natives led the pack as Chelsea Butler had six kills and two blocks, and Alyssa Fielder had a team-high eight kills. Â
McKenzie Morvant and Lillian Hamilton each had six kills, and Lylah Washington finished out her great weekend with four kills and 13 digs. Â

Butler and Washington were named to the all-tournament team after their weekend performances. Â
Sam Houston will open CUSA play at home with Middle Tennessee on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Thursday's match can be watched on ESPN+. Â
