RED-HOT KATS LOOKING FOR FIFTH WIN IN A ROW
- Sam Houston is on a 4-game win streak and will be searching for its first 5-game, non-conference win streak since 2013-14 season

- The Kats checked in at No. 82 in the NCAA's initial NET ranking released earlier this week. They are currently the highest-ranked team in CUSA and the only to be within the top 100. Defending league champion Liberty is the next closest, ranked at No. 118

- The Bearkats are coming off a 39-point win over North American, led by Bryana Block's career-high 14 points. The 92-point total was the most for the Kats since scoring 98 in last year's season opener vs Jarvis Christian

- Sam Houston forced 32 turnovers against the Stallions and currently leads the nation with an average of 30.0 forced turnovers per game. The Kats also rank 10th nationally with 15.2 steals per game

- The Kats will be looking to snap a 6-game losing streak in the series with the Owls with the last win being in OT in Houston early in the 2013-14 season. This will be the 30th all-time meeting between the schools with the Owls leading the series 22-7

- Fanta Kone currently leads the Kats and ranks 10th in CUSA in scoring with 13.5 ppg for the year, but leads the league in field-goal percentage, hitting at a 62.7 percent clip to date. She has hit 26 of 35 shots from the floor (74.2 percent) and averaged 16.3 ppg during the Kats' current 4-game win streak

- The Bearkats have held their opponents under 50 points in all 5 of their wins to date, including an opponent average of just 42.5 ppg during the current win streak

-  A win would give Ravon Justice her first 6-1 start to a season in her coaching career and bring even her SHSU career record at 104-104

- Annika Corcoran missed all of the 2024-25 season and the first two games of this year due to injury, but her addition has made an immediate impact to the Kats' outside shooting prowess. SHSU has hit at least five 3-point buckets in each of the last four games and most recently canned nine vs North American, the most in a single game for the team since hitting 11 vs UTEP in the final game of the 2023-24 season
