HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston Bearkats closed out the nonconference season in dominant fashion with a 110–38 win over Dallas on Sunday at Bernard G. Johnson Coliseum.
Sam Houston (7–4) scored triple digits for the first time since a 114–51 win over Texas College during the 2023–24 season, shooting 62 percent from the field while knocking down eight shots from beyond the arc.
Fanta Kone tied her career high with 22 points, going a perfect 3 of 3 from long range while adding eight rebounds and eight assists. Blessing Okoh recorded a new career high with 14 points alongside teammate Kaylie Carr with a 13-point career high of her own.
Whitney Dunn added 14 points, and Brianna Block finished with 11 to round out a strong bench effort that accounted for 62 points.
The Bearkats came out firing, hitting their first eight shots in the opening five minutes of the first quarter and shot 50 percent overall to build a 19-point lead.
Sam Houston continued to extend that advantage, limiting the Crusaders to just 16 points in the second half. The 72-point margin of victory marked the third largest in Bearkat history, surpassing a 70-point win over UT Pan American in 1987.
The Bearkats dominated on both ends of the floor, forcing 33 turnovers that led to 41 points while collecting 27 steals. Aysia Ward-Strong anchored the defensive effort with a team-high eight steals.
