Kats sweep LSU Shreveport

HUNTSVILLE - The Sam Houston women's tennis team went undefeated in both singles and doubles to pick up the Bearkats' second and third non-conference dual-match victories of the young 2025 season.
The Kats downed LSU Shreveport Saturday afternoon at the Beckner Tennis Center by identical scores of 4-0. By mutual agreement of the head coaches, the two teams stopped play in both the doubles point and singles action once victory was clinched.
Sam Houston now stands 3-1 in dual-match action. The Kats travel to Texas A&M Sunday to take on the defending NCAA national champion Aggies.
Nayuma Subba, Jacqueline Schnabel and Sara Sadadinovic each won both their singles encounters. Christine Jevicky, Aaliyah Hohmann and Adithi Venkatakrishnan all held leads when their individual contests were halted as the team win was clinched. All three doubles teams posted victories.
"Our double play impressed me this afternoon," head coach Rob Hubbard said. "We showed a lot of improvement from our opening matches."
After Sunday's visit to College Station four of the next five Bearkat matches will be held at home in Sam Houston's new tennis facility. The Kats play host to UTSA on February 7, Abilene Christian on February 16, Stephen F. Austin on February 21 and Eastern Michigan on February 28.
Conference USA action begins with a trip to Jax State on March 14.
