WACO — Sam Houston fell to Baylor and CBU on day two of the Baylor Invitational at Getterman Stadium on Saturday.
The Bearkats (7-11) went 10 innings against CBU before the Lancers scored on an RBI single to left field to clinch the win 2-1.
Baylor 9, Sam Houston 1 (5 inn.)
Baylor jumped out early, plating six runs in the first inning and never looked back.
Freshman Tiffany Sanchez (2-1) took the loss, allowing six runs on four hits and two walks in 2/3 innings. Makenzi Jenkins entered in relief, pitching the final four innings and surrendering three runs on five hits.
Kristen Whitlock provided Sam Houston's lone run with an RBI single, but the Bears added three more runs to enforce the run rule in five.
CBU 2, Sam Houston 1 (10 inn.)
Abigail Young (1-3) went the distance for the Bearkats, tossing 10 innings and allowing two runs, both in extra frames.
Morgan Holliday drove in Sam Houston's only run with an RBI single to left in the eighth.
Holliday and Elia Hebel helped the Kats escape a jam in the ninth, turning a backhanded grab and putout at first to keep the game alive.
However, the Lancers walked it off in the 10th with an RBI single to deep left field.
Sam Houston closes out the Baylor Invitational against North Texas on Sunday at 9 a.m. The game will be streamed on ESPN+.
