BRYAN-COLLEGE STATION – The Sam Houston women's tennis fell, 7-0, to No. 2 Texas A&M in its 2026 dual-match opener at the Mitchell Tennis Center.
The Aggies blanked all four of their opponents this weekend with 7-0 home victories over Tulane, Lubbock Christian, Air Force and the Kats. The four performances upped Texas A&M's current home winning streak to 73 victories.
"Today was an awesome opportunity for our young team to test themselves against one of the top squads in NCAA women's tennis," Bearkat head coach Rob Hubbard said. "To take on such an outstanding team in the atmosphere you play at one of the top tennis venues in the college ranks is great experience for our squad."
Next up for the Kats are four consecutive home matches at the Chuck & Wanda Beckner Tennis Center on the SHSU campus. Sam Houston hosts Lamar Friday January 23, LSU Shreveport and LSU Alexandria on Sunday January 25, and former Southland Conference rival McNeese on January 30.
