
Kats lead Bentwater heading into final day

MONTGOMERY, Texas – The Sam Houston men's golf team enters the final round of the Bentwater Intercollegiate in first place at +4 after 36 holes at Bentwater Country Club on Monday.
The Bearkats opened the tournament with an even-par first round and followed with a +4 second round, building a five-stroke lead over VCU heading into Tuesday's finale.
Individually, Jackson Hymer sits in second place just one stroke off the lead. Hymer came out strong with a 4-under-par opening round before finishing at even par in round two, putting him at -4 overall.
Caleb Lumpkin is tied for fourth place, shooting one under in the first round and one over in the second to finish at even par.
Grayson Petru is tied for 16th at +3, recording three birdies in each round. Alex Malanga rounds out the top scorers for the Bearkats at +5, rebounding from a +4 first round with a +1 second round to sit in 28th place.
Sebastian May posted rounds of 76 and 74 to finish at +8 on the day, while Preston Hiller, competing as an individual, shot 83 in both round and recorded an eagle on hole 16 in round two.
The final round of the Bentwater Intercollegiate is scheduled to begin at 8:00 a.m. Tuesday. Live scoring will be available on Scoreboard by Clippd.Â
