HUNTSVILLE — The nationally ranked Sam Houston bowling program is proud to announce the signing of Jordyn Atwood to the 2026-27 roster.
Atwood, a native of Fargo, North Dakota becomes the second signee from the "Peace Garden State" in program history. She joins the Bearkats as one of the standouts at Iowa Community College and the first NJCAA transfer, bringing with her a strong record of success in the classroom and at the NJCAA and national collegiate level.
"Jordyn has the ingredients to excel very quickly and an athletic background as a multi-sport varsity athlete which make her transition to the D1 level attractive and a journey we believe she can handle," head coach Brad Hagen said. "We're excited she chose the Bearkats to continue her academic and athletic career and she has a clear picture of not only what she wants at the next level but somewhere she can excel academically as well as athletically."
Atwood will join the Bearkats after playing for one of the most successful NJCAA programs over the past several seasons. Most recently, Iowa CC is coming off a runner-up finish at the NCJAA National Championships in 2025 and currently are prepping for another deep run this year.
Additionally, she brings her very strong academic mindset and honors with her. This past season Atwood was on the ICC President List, Dean's List, ICCAC all-academic first team, and NJCAA all-academic second team and is looking to repeat it all once again this season.
"Day in and out we need individuals on our roster who are going to push themselves as full-time student-athletes and understanding of what that means," Hagen said. "Jordyn's desire to excel at the highest level will serve as a tremendous asset as she transitions into D1 NCAA bowling."
Atwood plans to major in forensic biology at Sam Houston, one of the university's most outstanding and nationally recognized degree programs.
