
Kats head into final day of Mossy Oak

WEST POINT, Miss. – The Sam Houston men's golf team heads into the final round of the Mossy Oak Collegiate in 12th place at 14-over-par after 36 holes at Mossy Oak Golf Club on Monday.
The Bearkats opened the tournament with a 4-over-par first round and followed with a 10-over second round. Sam Houston holds a one-stroke lead over North Texas and a three-stroke advantage over Southern Miss heading into the final round.
Alex Malanga leads the Bearkats at even par after rounds of 71-73. He recorded five birdies in the opening round and added three more in the second.
Caleb Lumpkin sits in 35th place at 2-over-par, posting rounds of 74-72. He tallied birdies on holes 7 and 12 in the first round before bouncing back with an even-par second round that included five birdies.
Grayson Petru and Jackson Hymer are tied for 62nd at 6-over-par. Petru carded rounds of 74-76, recording three birdies in the first round and adding birdies on holes 16 and 17 in the second. Hymer posted rounds of 73-77 with three birdies in the opening round and one on hole 5 in round two.
Sebastian May finished the day at 13-over-par with rounds of 80-77, recording two birdies in each round.
The final round of the Mossy Oak Collegiate is set to begin at 1 p.m. Tuesday, with live scoring available on Scoreboard by Clippd.
