Malanga, Petru earn All-CUSA honors

DALLAS – Sam Houston golfers Alex Malanga and Grayson Petru were each named to the All-Conference USA team Friday, according to a release from league officials.
Malanga collected second-team All-CUSA honors for the first time in his career after posting five top-15 finishes during the season, including strong showings at the Bearcat Invitational, Git-R-Done Invitational, Border Olympics, Louisiana Classics and All American Intercollegiate. The junior capped the season with a tie for 44th place at the Conference USA Championships at 7-over par and climbed to No. 365 in the national rankings.
Petru earned All-Freshman Team honors following an impressive debut season for the Bearkats. He recorded multiple top-three finishes throughout the year and was one of Sam Houston's most consistent performers in the lineup. His best finish came at the Bentwater Intercollegiate, where he tied for 11th place at 2-over par. Petru also played a key role in helping the Bearkats post several strong team finishes during the season and established himself as one of the top young golfers in Conference USA.
