SHSU bowling announces 2026-27 schedule

HUNTSVILLE — Sam Houston bowling has announced its 2026-27 schedule, featuring a 14-event slate that begins in October and includes tournaments across five states before postseason competition later in the spring.
ÂThe Bearkats open the season Oct. 3 with the Kat Klub Kickoff Exhibition in Huntsville before traveling to Louisiana for the Tulane Invitational Oct. 9-11 in Harahan. Sam Houston returns to Huntsville for the Kat Klub Dual on Oct. 17 before continuing its fall schedule with the Bulldog Classic Nov. 6-8 hosted by Louisiana Tech in San Antonio and the Kat Klash Nov. 13-15 at Emerald Bowl in Houston.

Following the winter break, the Bearkats resume competition Jan. 15-17 at the North East Classic in New Castle, Delaware. Sam Houston then heads to Arlington for the Prairie View Invite Jan. 22-24.

February features three tournaments, beginning with the Lewis Flyer Classic Feb. 5-7 in Lockport, Illinois. The Bearkats then compete at the TNBA Open Feb. 12-14 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, before traveling to Lincoln, Nebraska, for the Big Red Invite Feb. 19-21.

Sam Houston opens March at the Music City Classic March 5-7 in Smyrna, Tennessee, followed by the Intercollegiate Singles Championships March 12 in Euless, Texas.

The Bearkats will then head back to Nebraska to compete at the Conference USA Championships March 17-21 in Lincoln at Sun Valley Lanes.

The NCAA Regional rounds will be held April 7-9 in Pittsburgh where the national championships are also scheduled for April 10.

The 2025-26 season was a story of youth, adversity, resilience and belief for Sam Houston.
Â
With a young roster facing the challenges that come with inexperience, the Bearkats were tested throughout the season. With just one player entering the year with two full seasons of collegiate experience, Sam Houston continued to compete, grow and find ways to battle through adversity.

As the second half of the season began and postseason play arrived, the Bearkats once again proved they belonged among the nation's best, earning another trip to the NCAA postseason.

While the 2025-26 season did not end with a national championship, it provided valuable experience and further established the foundation for the future of Sam Houston bowling. The Bearkats' ability to compete through challenges and continue moving forward demonstrated the character and resilience within the program.

That foundation returns this season with five key players, including All-Americans Miya Greene and Noey Sarntong. Sarntong, the team's only fourth-year returnee, brings valuable experience to a roster that continues to develop.

Emily Hart returns after an all-rookie team season and a bronze-medal performance with the Australian National Team at the World Youth Team Championships. Jessica Sillis also enters the season following a strong summer in which she won the ETBF Women's Championship Masters Division, advancing through the stepladder as the No. 22 seed.

Ana Gonzales enters the season after a standout summer representing Peru. Gonzales won the Nations National Team Trials as an adult and added three additional medals at the Peruvian National Team Trials, along with two more medals at the CONSUBOWL 2026 South American Championship.

With postseason experience, international success and a growing core of young talent, the Bearkats enter the new season looking to build on the foundation established a year ago.
