SERIES vs TEXAS LUTHERAN
This will be the first-ever meeting between the Bearkats and Texas Lutheran.
WHAT TO WATCH FOR
- Kai Mitchell had 15 of his season-high 19 points in the second half of the Kats’ loss at Utah Valley, adding 10 rebounds for his second straight double-double. He currently ranks fourth in the Southland with 7.3 per game and has reached double figures in rebounding five times this year.
- Senior Marcus Harris had not reached double figures in scoring since the opening two games of the season, but looks to be turning it on at just the right time. The preseason all-conference guard has averaged 17.0 ppg in his last two games and turned in his best game of the year at Utah Valley, canning nine of 13 shots from the field for 22 points.
- Josh Delaney, who has tallied 161 3-point baskets in his career, ranks seventh in the Bearkat record books in career threes. He needs just 20 more made treys to catch Derrick Preston (181) for sixth place. He is coming off his first career double-double in the loss to Utah Valley where he dropped in 15 points and dished out a career-high 10 assists.
- As a team the Kats are beginning to connect from distance, draining 30 triples over the last three games. They are hitting at a 38.9 percent (30 of 77) clip during that span after hitting just 30.4 percent from distance in the first nine games of the year.
- The Kats were efficient on the offensive end against the Wolverines, turning the ball over just 10 times while putting up 79 points – the most points this season since scoring 94 vs Southwestern in the second game of the year. So far this season SHSU is third in the Southland Conference in turnover margin (+2.75) and ranks second in assist/turnover ratio (1.16).
