SHSU Tailgating Policies

AT ALL SHSU ATHLETIC VENUES
  •  Game parking and/or tailgating is allowed in Public Parking areas Please see the Football Parking Map for designated public parking areas for football games.
  • Public lots will open three (3) hours prior to home football games.

  • Reserved Season ticket lots will open three (3) hours prior to home football games. Must have a valid pass for access into these lots.

  • Bearkat Alley opens two (2) hours prior to the game.

  • No pets allowed in tailgating or public parking areas.

  • All tailgating areas must be cleaned up entirely of trash before leaving the area. Trash must be placed in the proper receptacles. If litter is present at any tailgating site, the participants will be asked to clean up their area immediately or be subject to fines.

  • For events other than football, parking and/or tailgating is not allowed on Medians, unmarked areas, or unpaved areas unless authorized by SHSU Athletics and UPD. Violators are subject to being towed.

  • Open flames are allowed, but must be extinguished prior to entering the stadium.

  • For safety purposes, all tents, tables, chairs, etc. Must be put away prior to entering stadium

  • Tailgating will be limited to the space that is designated. Any group that uses area beyond their space will be asked to move.

  • Alcohol consumption will be monitored by UPD and any problems that occur will be handled by UPD. Minor consumption violations will be ticketed.

  • All alcoholic beverages must be contained in an unmarked, non-transparent plastic cup. No glass bottles, cans, kegs, etc. are allowed.

  • Each group is responsible for providing their own equipment (tables, chairs, etc.).

  • Advertisements, banners, signs or the distribution of promotional items on the university property is prohibited unless otherwise approved by a Sam Houston State University official. Participants will be required to remove promotional banners or signs if asked to.Sam Houston State University reserves the right to revoke the tailgating privileges of those who do not comply with these guidelines.
