Phillip Karasek (2026) - Hall of Honor

Phillip Karasek

Induction:
2026

A native of East Bernard, Karasek transferred to Sam Houston for the 1985 season after earning all-conference honors at Blinn College in 1984. He became an immediate starter on the offensive line, known for his run blocking and went on to help the Bearkats to a share of the Gulf Star Conference title in his first year on the team.

That season put him on the map in Huntsville, and he backed it up with a stellar 1986 season in which he helped lead the Kats to an outright Gulf Star title and the program's first-ever berth in the Division 1-AA playoffs.

Behind Karasek the Bearkats led the GSC with 411.7 yards per game of total offense and 27.2 points per contest. He started 11 of 12 games at center that year and was named to the All-Gulf Star Conference first team and an AP all-America honorable-mention selection.
