HUNTSVILLE - Brandon Bennett rushed for one touchdown, threw for another and passed for 151 yards in his first start as a college quarterback, helping Sam Houston move to 2-0.
He replaced Stacey Arrambide who missed the game with a mild shoulder separation. The Bearkat defense allowed Southeast Missouri only 44 yards rushing, recovered two fumbles, intercepted a pass and blocked a punt.
Tailback Charles Harris carried 13 times for 58 yards before leaving the game with an injury in the third quarter. His backup, Lester Leonard, carried eight times for 52 yards. Blake Vincent caught four passes for 66 yards.
