Kats drop a pair of matches on the road

SAN MARCOS -- Audra Randell scored on a header in the third minute of the contest, then assisted on a second game in the 14th minute to lead Texas State-San Marcos to a 3-0 Southland Conference women's soccer victory Friday night.

Anna Fagan scored off Randell's corner kick for the second Bobcat goal. Britney Currey scored unassisted in the 21st minute.

Texas State-San Marcos totaled 18 shots while Sam Houston State had 14.

Luanna Meisa led the Bearkat offense with four shots while Debbie had three.

Bobcat goalkeeper Amanda Byrd had one save in the first half. Her backup, Mandi Mawyer had two in the second half to preserve the shutout.

Roadrunners 3, Bearkats 0 

SAN ANTONIO ? Freshman Alli Dillon scored twice and added an assist to lead Texas-San Atnonio to a 3-0 win Southland Conference women's soccer victory over Sam Houston State Sunday afternoon at the UTSA Recreational Sports Complex.

Dillon put the Roadrunners (4-7-2, 2-1-1 SLC) up 1-0 with her fourth goal of the season at the 21-minute mark. Freshman Jenna Pawelek was credited with the assist.

In second half, UTSA upped its lead to 2-0 on Dillon's second goal of the match. Sophomore Veronica Najera then sealed the victory with her team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Freshman goalkeeper Allison McCabe made four saves and posted her second shutout of the weekend. The match marked the fifth time in 10 matches this season the Bearkats have been held scoreless.

Texas-San Antonio outshot the Bearkats 27-10. Goalkeeper Jenny Pence totaled a match-best eight saves for Sam Houston State (2-8, 0-3 SLC). Tofi Chavez, Raquel Bueno, and Debbie Campbell each had two shots apiece for the Bearkats.

Next action for the Bearkats will be a home match Friday night, Oct. 19, against Northwestern State at 7 p.m. at Pritchell Field.
